There is an interesting debate going on over on an IChemE Linked In group about whether Chemical Engineering education is fit for purpose, based on this Guardian blog post.
Engineering education is broken. There is a radical mismatch between the content of university courses and the needs of the profession. An incorrect understanding of the nature of engineering is now so established that many academics cannot even see what is wrong with what they are teaching, let alone imagine it changing. We think Engineering Education needs to be made fit for purpose. If you do as well, please participate.
